How can you Save with Paypal Micropayments ?

How can you save with Paypal Micropayments?

Dan from Tamebay pointed out about Paypal Micropayments. This is something that definitely needed further investigation and here’s list of payment received values along with Paypal Fees:

–         Micro Payment  Fees 5% + 5p

–         Normal  Fees 3.4% + 20p

Paypal Micro Payments List

Please Click to Download the Spreadshee

You will find a column showing difference in fees with two types of fees. You will find PayPal Micropayment profitable with certain values and not with others. The breakeven point is highlighted in yellow. So, if you are receiving anything £9.10 or below go for Micropayment and above go for normal payment. Please take a note of savings and losses to take the correct action. Here’s three situations your business may be in:

SITUATION 1: Receiving £9.10 or less

Go for Micropayment

SITUATION 2: Receiving over £9.10

Go for Normal Paypal

SITUATION 3: Mix of both

Have two PayPal and direct your payment to two different accounts.

Please note this will save you money and maximise your profit if you do the right way and if you are not careful with it and you will lose big time. The spreadsheet is downloadable for you to change values if you like.

Would you like to hear how the successful marketplace businesses started?

UnderstandingE

I met Matt and Dave few weeks back through skype and had an opportunity to look into their idea of 3rd Generation Multi channel Software. I can’t see any reason why this cannot work for any SME as there are easy options to add on feature as you like. Recently I got message from Matt and here’s what Matt says –

Would you like to hear how the successful marketplace businesses started?

Find out the real story, spoken by the business owners themselves, people just like you.

How they started, where they are right now, their expectations for Christmas, the challenges they’ve had & overcome and what they’ve got planned for the future.

I asked them all (there is 4 interviews available right now, more soon) the same question, “What one piece of advice would you give other business owners?“, the tips I received back were amazing.

There are four interviews live at UnderstandingE.com/podcasts/ and if you have an iTunes, you can download them immediately here.

In the interview published this morning (see here), you’ll hear how Ian went from clearing his house out, to a multi-million pound business and why he is expecting 50% growth this Christmas compared to last year.

You might be tucked away in your office, at home & at this time of the year it’s probably bordering on chaos. Escape this for half an hour with a cuppa or on the drive home and tune-in & hear from cool people just like you.

See you there,

Matt

Are you thinking to buying on Alibaba and Selling on eBay ?

[slideshare id=28483302&style=border: 1px solid #CCC; border-width: 1px 1px 0; margin-bottom: 5px;&sc=no]

Are you thinking of a sideline business and wondering about importing small quantities of goods from Alibaba to flog on eBay/ a small website? The slide above shows one example of a produce source from Alibaba selling price on eBay. The profit seems very good for a sideline business. However, there are various aspects to look at. I found a forum discussion and listed few important points to research on before you jump into this.
  • If the price you charge covers the item cost, its part of the shipping cost, duty, VAT, eBay fees, PayPal fees, postage & package costs……then obviously it does work.
  • Even if you buy a 50 quantity from Alibaba/Aliexpress.You are often in a position where the UK eBay price from the direct from China sellers is lower than you can buy/import/tax/eBay fees/papal fees the item for. And unless you are practically the cheapest on eBay you won’t sell much.
  • Agree, so many people on eBay are making literally pennies per item – pointless. Although, if you can find a good, niche product that everyone isn’t selling, you can still do ok.
  • I do this exact thing, and it does give me decent pocket money. EBay makes just as much profit off me as what I make which is very frustrating; their fees are far far too high.
  • The problem is you need a niche product, and once you start selling loads everybody just copies you, which then leads to a price war which eventually results in not being able to turn a profit from it, unless you buy thousands to get cheaper price per unit costs.
  • UK-based sellers of these items have another problem looming. A lot of then with n-thousand positive EBay feedback are soon going to get a letter from HMRC. Even if you’re making just a quid per sale, HMRC would like 20p or even 40p of that. EBay’s records make HMRC investigations a breeze.
  • You’re quite right, and I should have made one thing much more clearly in that last post. I was right in saying Chinese factories wouldn’t entertain such orders, and I stand by that. The suppliers you’re looking at there are trading companies in China, not factories. You are therefore paying their mark-up too.

What does eBay About Me Page worth?

We are aware “About Me” page is the only place on your eBay store that sellers are allowed to mention their own URL. If you look around you will find quite a lot of sellers Violet this eBay link Policy like the one below. It is best not to go against eBay policy as this can even cause suspension of your account.

eBay Link Policy

Having link in credible site like eBay is certainly good for SEO of your eCommerce store. However, have you ever thought if this page has brought any traffic to your website and was there any sales from it?

I had a quick glance in one store’s Google Analytics and found out that in last four years the store had one sale with 390 visits which is 0.06 % of the total traffic. I am curious to learn your stat on this.
