Amazon is Biased towards its listings

Recently I discovered this GU 10  Led Light listing on Amazon. I saw it advertised for £21.98 and went to buy but later discover it was temporarily out of stock from Amazon themselves. I spent few more minutes to read product reviews and discovered that this was also sold by a third party at £7.95 ( 63% cheaper than Amazon ) however I would not have known this out if hadn’t spent few more minutes on this listing. So, why did Amazon did not allow this third party to appear before themselves when they are not in stock with Amazon. There seems to be no issue with the third party:

#1  100% Positive Reviews

#2  Free Delivery

#3  Lower Price than Amazon

If this stock was available with Amazon, I would have paid lot more for the same product. From this experience, I would be checking other sellers when I shop with Amazon and you should too ! The one on the top is not necessarily better value for money.

If you were a third party seller on Amazon selling this product, you could win the top spot popularly known as buy box by sending stock to Amazon for fulfilment (FBA). On this occasion this looks like a compulsion rather than choice for this retailer. It does not seem right but who can fight with the mighty Amazon !

** Few days later there was another seller on this listing selling with FBA. I have updated the slides with new seller. If the third party above does FBA they would do it bit lesser price than the new seller and win the buy box.

Getting Product Reviews on your Products on Amazon is getting More important than ever

Personally, I do read product reviews on Amazon before purchasing anything.Amazon Product Reviews This becomes more important when I am spending bit more money on any product. I believe it is the same case for many of us. This is something Amazon is taking very seriously and giving importance to new and most helpful reviews as a part of new change is Amazon Reviews Algorithm which is already rolled out in the US and will follow to other countries eventually.

I have sometimes doubted if these reviews are really true. I have found some reviews very comprehensive and I question if somebody really has spent that amount of time writing it ? Perhaps no, perhaps yes but I am fully aware that there are several reviews site that encourages product reviews with a compensation. It is good for retailers to boost their white labelled products but not of buyers. Good news is that Amazon is already on legal battle with fake review site companies. So, if you are thinking of going this way perhaps you should reconsider.

Not surprisingly, I have had few inquiries about getting quicker reviews with highly regarded retailers  in the past, some of them trading in the UK for over 80 years.  I understand it is not easy to get reviews from customers but I have kept myself away from recommending fake ones though I was not liked to be saying this.

Now, you know that new review system will give more preference to new reviews, reviews from verified accounts and reviews that get the most votes from buyers

as a UK retailer what is the best way to get more product reviews on Amazon ?

Recently, I had a opportunity to work with an enthusiastic to be Amazon FBA seller from Brighton who traveled to our Newport Training suite for a half day training. Like the most he has spent time learning using online courses and his choice of udemy. It was a good course giving information out but lacked giving individualised experience. This is when one-to-one Amazon FBA trainers are  in need and we booked a half day training.

This one-to-one Amazon FBA training started with a simple process of

1. Finding out what you want to achieve and your understanding in the subject

2. Find out what you want to learn specifically

3. Including what’s needed to be successful

I use this process because everyone is different and with different level of understanding whether you are working for your own or working for someone else. This process allows me to find out what’s needed for personalised training and I prepare for it.

During this training we went through the basics of listing product right on Amazon and covered product titles, search keywords and getting the image right.  We also discussed about shipping the right way for Amazon FBA US and went a bit out of the way talking about how get new business using Facebook pages.  Additionally, we discussed how important private labelled is and listing products with two ASINs to maximise the sales.

Amazon Product Details Tips

Amazon Product Conent Tip

Customers browse through Amazon listings in an intention to buy your products. It is always good
to have a good product details. This becomes more important when you have won a buy box for a particular products. So, here’s three quick tips:

1. Include your main keywords on your product titles. Including brand name is only important if it is being searched.

2. Use bullet points to mention features of your products and include benefits as well. It is good to capitalise first letter of each points.

3. It is best to keep your description concise. Remember HTML codes that were allowed at one time does not apply any more. You can try <b> for bold <p> for paragraph change like this experiment listing.  http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00W25S3FA

It is also good idea to experiment any offers like buy 2 get 1 free.

Free Translator for eBay Listings

We know International Trade on eBay is going to Grow and this demands Translations Tools for UK retailers. I have found few Retailers using Google Translate to list their stock for eBay Germany and other marketplaces. It is interesting to see some positive result. It is also fascinating to know customer messages are also being handled through the use of Google Translate. It is not 100% accurate but it’s free and seems to be working fine.

Top Tip:  Use Bilingual Text in Customer messages as many can understand English.

I have recently discovered free tool called “DocTranslate” which allows us to quickly translate Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Txt and Xml documents without losing the layout. This is a handy tool for eBay UK Retailers as you can upload your eBay UK listings and get it translated in Germany.  Please scroll through the slides below that shows you how it can be done and the result.
